No walls. Opportunities. The networking of business and science is an important success factor here. The GreenTech sector is booming. In 2021, the global market volume surpassed €4.6 trillion for the first time (Source: Environmental Technology Atlas “GreenTech made in Germany 2021”). And the outlook remains positive: by 2030, the environmental technology and resource efficiency market is expected to generate €9.4 trillion worldwide.
Clean air, fresh water, and energy efficiency are not just environmental goals—they are economic drivers. In 2020, the German GreenTech sector reached €392 billion, and by 2030, this figure is expected to more than double to €856 billion. Environmental technology is a key pillar of Germany’s economy, contributing 15% of the GDP in 2020, with rising employment and revenue growth. Baden-Württemberg also holds a strong economic position in GreenTech, with GreenTech exports totaling €7.2 billion in 2021, accounting for 3.2% of the region’s total exports. (Source: “Analysis of the GreenTech Sector in Baden-Württemberg”, Umwelttechnik BW GmbH, 2023).
