Bioeconomy as a decisive lever for future viability

Bioeconomy as a decisive lever for future viability

Exchanging ideas, networking, broadening horizons, sharing knowledge—that’s what Connect Green is all about. The success of this concept is underscored by the second edition of our event, which is taking place in Mannheim. Around 80 participants are in attendance and are enthusiastic about the very special atmosphere of the U-Halle on the Spinelli site.

This time, the topic is industrial bioeconomy. Do industry and bioeconomy go together? Definitely, as the members Chemische Werke Kluthe GmbH and FRENVI GmbH show in their “Lessons Learned.” The subsequent workshops are filled with lively discussion and exchange. We prepare the results as a team. They serve as a further basis for future projects.

Of course, the contributions also help us with our BioCyclesRN funding project, which is officially kicking off at ConnectGreen. With a larger database, we want to further advance the future field of industrial bioeconomy. The aim is to systematically collect biogenic and industrial residues from the region and incorporate them into sustainable value chains.

Keynote speaker Thomas Strieder from OutNature GmbH impressively conveys the enormous advantages of the circular economy. Participants are now well informed about the great potential of the energy crop cup plant.

The example of cup plant clearly shows how important networking and cooperation are. And ConnectGreen and our cluster only work this way: thanks to the input of the members, the cooperation with the Local Green Deal Management of the city of Mannheim, which provides the U-Halle, and the support of the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Energy, ConnectGreen is a well-rounded success.

In his closing remarks, State Secretary Dr. Andre Baumann emphasizes the importance of the bioeconomy for the sustainable transformation of industry: “The bioeconomy is a decisive lever on the path to a resource-efficient, sustainable economy. Initiatives such as BioCyclesRN from Green Industry Cluster e.V. show how regional cooperation can close cycles and enable innovation.”
