Positive funding decision for the Ministry of Agriculture’s funding call “Bioeconomy as a driver of innovation for rural areas”
Great recognition for the Green Industry Cluster: The “BioCycles Rhein-Neckar” project was selected as one of seven projects in the “Initiatives for the further development of the lead region sustainable bioeconomy” funding program of the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection and will receive full funding from the state of Baden-Württemberg. The aim of the program is to strengthen sustainable and cycle-oriented economic practices and to further develop Baden-Württemberg as a pioneer of the bioeconomy. The state is providing a total of 1.49 million euros for the seven funded projects.
Under the leadership of the City of Mannheim Economic Development – Mannheim Department of Economic Development – a network is being established with the cluster that brings together relevant players from industry, agriculture and science. With the IIP – Institute of Industrial Production and Management, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) as project partners and regional players, practice-oriented recycling concepts are being developed that help to use biogenic residues efficiently and establish new business models based on the circular economy.
„The efficient use of industrial and agricultural residues is a crucial building block for a sustainable economy. With this project, we are connecting companies with science and creating the basis for innovative recycling concepts.“ – Economic Mayor of Mannheim Thorsten Rhiele
